SHELL DEVELOPS NEW GEARBOX OIL FOR THE FERRARI 248 F1 IN MONTREAL
*This weekend in Montreal, Ferrari will be profiting from Shell's new gearbox oil. Shell Spirax L-10193 developed by Shell for this race, marks a significant step up in performance.
*Montreal is notoriously hard on the brakes and rear-wheel locking often takes place during the heavy braking periods. These factors impact significantly on the gearbox, so its lubricant has an especially demanding role to fulfil.
*The new oil formulation is designed to increase the gearbox performance whilst not compromising the protection which Shell Spirax is engineered to provide.
*This introduction is one of a series of significant development steps across oils, fuels and greases that Shell builds on continuously in its technical partnership with Ferrari.
FUEL
*Shell V-Power ULG 62L/3, will continue to fuel the Ferrari 248 F1 in Canada.
*Power demands at this circuit are high, and the circuit is not conducive to fuel economy. This will be a key consideration in terms of race strategy at the circuit.
*Shell V-Power ULG 62L/3, has proven to be a very adaptable formulation which should complement whichever race strategy is decided.
ENGINE OIL
*Shell Helix SL-0932 engine oil will be running in the Ferrari engine to fight friction, liberate power and provide crucial protection.
*This Shell Helix oil selected from the Shell portfolio will be required to safeguard the engine. However it will also allow it to produce as much power as possible for the high-speed sections and fast acceleration, after the notoriously sharp braking requirements of the Canadian circuit.
SHELL FACT
*Shell reduces friction in the engine and gearbox with its lubricant package, whereas brakes are there to create friction to slow the car effectively - carbon fibre brakes have more friction as they get hotter, ideal for a circuit like Canada.
