Silverstone, 12th-14th june 2001

The Prost Acer team conducted this week a three-day test at the Silverstone track in order to prepare for the British Grand Prix which will take place on July, 15th.

Prost Acer's test driver Stephane Sarrazin drove on Tuesday and concentrated mainly on testing various new electronic softwares, while running on race fuel levels all day. He completed 43 laps, with a best time of 1'26''459. The team is particularly satisfied with Stephane's comprehensive technical feedback and feels he did a very good job considering he had not been testing in Formula One since March.

On Wednesday and Thursday, Jean Alesi and Luciano Burti were at the wheel of the Prost Acer AP04 to continue developing the electronic softwares, and to work on a specific set-up programme for the British Grand Prix. This programme included some suspension set-up work, differential and engine mappings, as well as different Michelin tyre construction and compounds evaluation. The team also tested various new elements on the car such as new brake development. As most of the drivers attending the test session, Jean Alesi checked the HANS system and a brake-light, both security devices being developed by the FIA.

The overall session was very positive as the programme was successfully completed and gave some good results, particularly on the electronic side, as well as valuable information for the British round of the F1 World Championship.

John Walton - Sporting Director said :

"We are very satisfied that, despite the session being hampered by numerous red flags during the last two days, Jean Alesi and Luciano Burti could complete about 1200 kilometers in total. The excellent results achieved in Monaco and Montreal are a great encouragement for the whole team and we are now working hard on the second step of the new aero package, which we aim to introduce in race at the French Grand Prix." <pre> Tuesday 12th
