The Renault F1 Team was on track for its second day of testing in Barcelona today, to continue its development programme. The two race drivers, Fernando Alonso and Giancarlo Fisichella, were working on preparations for the next European races and especially the Spanish Grand Prix.

The programme today for the Renault drivers was mainly focused on chassis set up in order to find the optimum way to exploit the Michelin tyres. Regarding the engine, the team wanted to continue the evaluation and mapping of the new spec B, which has so far performed in line with its objectives.

Fernando Alonso today covered 106 laps on his final day of testing. The Spaniard was once again very competitive as he set the second-fastest laptime in 1:14.532, which he recorded early this morning.

Giancarlo Fisichella, who started his programme today, had a busy day with 112 laps covered and finally set the sixth-fastest laptime of the day in 1:15.105.

Christian Silk, Chief Test Engineer:

"We had a productive day once again and we completed an interesting programme on both cars. The package was extremely reliable which allowed us to do lots of runs today and to complete our programme. We learned a lot about the behaviour of the R26 and made did interesting steps for the next races. Barcelona is a very good track for development work and we will have a busy day again tomorrow."
