Seat fitting for Trulli

Jarno Trulli got his first impressions of the Renault R24 today, as he completed his seat fitting in the mock-up chassis at Enstone.

The rain was falling in bucketloads, and the sky still dark, as a familiar face strolled into the race shop this morning. Eager to get a look at next year's challenger, Jarno Trulli arrived early at the Renault F1 Team's Enstone factory for his seat fitting in the mock-up chassis. After changing into his race suit, he got his first view from the wheel of the R24.

"Everything feels fine!" commented the Italian. "This is really just a check to make sure that I am comfortable in the car, my seat, and to get used to where things are located in the cockpit. If we find any problems, it gives us enough time to make changes to get fully comfortable, but everything was OK straight away."

The Italian has been training hard since the end of the season, including a three day test at Valencia in which he completed over 1000 kilometres. So how are things going? "Really well -- I have been training so much that my race suit actually feels quite tight across the shoulders! I have been working hard on my fitness and, after seeing the engineers, I know everybody here and at Viry has been flat out. It may only be a mock-up, but the car looks fantastic, and the data shows we have made good improvements. I can't wait to drive it!"

Before then, though, comes a week's training in Kenya, and then Christmas with family. "I am looking forward to getting out there: we have a fun time, and it really helps to pull the team together before the start of the season. It is one of the unique things about being with Renault. I'm looking forward to catching up with Fernando, and getting to know Franck better as well. Then it will be time to relax before getting back to work in the new year." The schedule will be busy, but today's insights have left Jarno convinced the hard work is destined to pay off.
