At the 'Jerez Circuit', Mark Webber and Antonio Pizzonia began the BMW WilliamsF1 Team's final test of the 2004 FIA Formula One World Championship. Despite a foggy start to the day, which meant there was no on-track action until 10:30hrs (local time), this gave way to blue skies and bright sunshine, with temperatures reaching 16°C.

BMW WilliamsF1 Team driver Mark Webber, driving an interim WilliamsF1 BMW FW26, spent the day evaluating brakes and tyre compounds. The Australian completed 82 laps, setting a best time of 1:17.803 minutes.

Antonio Pizzonia, also at the wheel of an interim car, carried out systems checks and tyre evaluations with the BMW WilliamsF1 Team's tyre partner, Michelin. The Brazilian also did a number of practice starts in anticipation of the new regulations for 2005. Antonio completed 70 laps with a best time of 1:17.464 minutes.

Tim Newton (Test Team Manager, WilliamsF1):

"Fog hampered progress this morning up until about 10:30. However, clear skies prevailed for the rest of the day allowing us to commence our test programme, our last run for this year. Mark Webber, in one of the interim FW26s, had a progressive day registering 82 laps while working on tyre and brake testing. Antonio Pizzonia was behind the wheel of the second car and spent the session performing systems checks and tyre evaluations. Mark will be joined by Nick Heidfeld tomorrow."
