BMW WilliamsF1 Team driver Antonio Pizzonia tops the timesheets at the "Autodromo Nazionale Monza", as Italian Grand Prix preparations continue.

Once again, conditions were cool and a little misty when testing got underway at the "Autodromo Nazionale di Monza" this morning. However, the mist eventually gave way to blue skies and bright sunshine, with track temperatures reaching 43 degrees C.

Between them, BMW WilliamsF1 Team drivers Juan Pablo Montoya and Antonio Pizzonia completed 145 laps of the legendary Italian track without any problems.

Juan Pablo completed a race simulation, while Antonio concentrated on tyre tests for next weekend's Italian Grand Prix. Both drivers also carried out a number of aerodynamic tests.

Antonio posted his fastest lap, at 1:20.027 the fastest lap seen at Monza this year, on his 20th lap, of 76, while Juan Pablo posted his best time, 1:21.090, on his 47th lap.

Both drivers continue here tomorrow, the final day of testing.

Tim Newton (Test Team Manager, WilliamsF1):

"Juan Pablo drove for 69 laps today, concentrating on starts, set-up work and aero comparisons. Antonio completed 76 laps working on tyre testing as well as the set-up and aero comparisons for next weekend's race. Although we had a slow start to the day, our progress improved throughout the session."

"It has been quite a long day of work, with several red flags hampering running, but we still managed to successfully complete our programme. Both Juan Pablo and Antonio will be on track tomorrow for the last day of the test which will again contain a very intensive schedule."
