Williams not ready to drop KERS issue

Williams is still not willing to commit to running without active KERS systems in its cars next year.

The British team last week re-joined the FOTA team alliance, whose other members have agreed not to fit the technology to their cars in 2010 despite KERS being allowed in the technical regulations.

Team co-owner Patrick Head at Monza admitted that he does not agree with FOTA's position on KERS, adding that it will be "a subject for further discussion".

Head also told reporters that Williams will not be using Mercedes power in 2010, making switches to Renault or Cosworth the most likely options.

Also on the subject of KERS, the system is unlikely to re-appear in the Renault car at any of the remaining races this season.

The French team had reintroduced the technology for the long straights of Monza, but Fernando Alonso revealed after the race that KERS "did not meet my expectations".

His teammate Romain Grosjean also said his KERS-assisted Italian GP start had been "very poor".
