ISR Racing shows great shape on the streets of Monte Carlo
ISR continued to be on a great run in the 2010 World Series Renault 3.5. After taking victory at Spa- Francorchamps with Esteban Guerrieri, the Czech team proved strong again in qualifying at Monte Carlo. At the end of a steady run, Alexandre Rossi and Filip Salaquarda took respectively a spot on ro w 3 and 5. While a double race format is usually featured, on the streets of the Principality teams and drivers will have to deal with a longer, single heat, taking off right before the Formula One Grand Prix.
In the only qualifying session, split in t wo groups to avoid traffic, the t wo ISR drivers were among the main stars. Rossi even briefly clinched the lead on his maiden WSR event, before hitting the barriers due to a small mistake while running at the Massenet corner. He eventually landed third place, meaning a ro w 3 start. Filip was clocking his personal best lap when Mendez spun at the Portier corner, forcing ste wards to expose yello w flag. As he had to slow do wn, ruining his chances to fight for pole, he still clinched 4th place, his best finish in a World Series Renault qualifying session.
Igor Salaquarda - Team Principal
"We proved that we can fight for the top on a selective and particular track like Monte Carlo. Rossi
has been great, considering he's at his first race in the championship and he never run at Monaco
before Thursday's practice. He made a small mistake, but nonetheless he was exceptional. Filip
did a good job too, as his best lap was ruined by a spin in front of him. We'll be taking off from row
3 and 4. I think it couldn't have gone better."
