WALKER HOPING TO DELIVER FOR JERSEY POST AT SILVERSTONE
James Walker is at Silverstone this weekend for the UK rounds of the World Series by Renault. Currently lying in a strong third place in the championship, the Jersey racer will be going flat out at Silverstone to win in front of the home crowd.
Eagle-eyed viewers will have noticed that James has had some different logos on his car this year, starting with the Spa race where he was flying the flag for Jersey in the form of the Jersey Post logo. Jersey Post is backing James in his bid to become Jersey's first F1 driver and James is thrilled to have their support. Since the Spa race the company has used it's sponsorship of James to showcase the brands of its customers, including Play.com, MyMemory and, at Silverstone, Flying Flowers!
"Getting Jersey Post on board is fantastic news," said James. "We've worked hard to make this partnership happen and we will continue to work hard to make the most of such a fantastic relationship. I feel proud to have an association with a brand that is at the heart of the island. My roots in Jersey are, and have always been, very important to me. Whilst Jersey Post is my lead sponsor, the aim is to get more Jersey companies onboard so that I can showcase Jersey all over the world and carry the support of Jersey businesses with me into Formula One."
Gary Whipp, Managing Director of Jersey Post's Enterprise Division, said, "Jersey Post is committed to supporting the growth of local talent and local businesses. This partnership provides us with an opportunity to reinforce our key messaging around speed, efficiency, dedication and delivering results, attributes James consistently demonstrates. At the same time, we can pass on profile opportunities to some of our largest customers and over the next six months or so, we are looking forward to seeing home grown brands and a home grown talent, taking the lead in the World Series by Renault."
Every race is important when competing for championship honours but a driver's home event is always special, as James explains:
"I'm excited that I have the opportunity to win again in front of all of the home fans. After our performance at other quick, flowing circuits this season, Silverstone should in theory be a great track for us. Closing the gap in the championship is the main aim but I'll be giving it everything I've got to get that home win."
If you can't get to Silverstone you can catch the first race live on Eurosport on Saturday at 1300hrs. Sunday's race will be shown later on Sunday evening at 2200hrs.
