Vervisch keeps putting Chinosi under pressure

The battle in the German Formula 3 Championship is intensifying, with now four drivers fighting for the title, including Frederic Vervisch. The 21-year-old Belgian was only four points behind the championship leader after the races in Hockenheim and in Assen he decreased the gap to three points.

The weekend surely wasn't that easy. The Dallara F307 OPC Challenge wasn't as reliable as during the Hockenheim weekend. Nevertheless, Frederic secured fourth place on the grid for race 1, followed by ninth place for race 2. "During first qualifying, we were slowed down by other competitors during our fastest laps, when the track and the tyres were at their best. It could have been a lot better", said Vervisch.

Frederics start in race 1 was good, but the Belgian wasn't able to get everything out of his car. Overtaking is also very difficult here. At the finish, Frederic had to be content with fifth place, but he set the fastest laptime. In race 2, the differential broke down and in spite of this handicap, Frederic wasn't an easy prey for his rivals. The driver of the Swiss Racing Team overtook two other drivers and fought a nice battle with championship leader Matteo Chinosi and his former teammate Rafael Suzuki. Fred passed the finish in seventh place.

In the championship, Frederic is only three points behind leader Matteo Chinosi, but is accompanied by Johnny Cecotto for second place. The Columbian Sebastian Saavedra is also gaining momentum and enters the battle for the championship. The next race weekend in course of the Le Mans Series on the Nurburgring will be a promising one.
