Results of the FIA 3000 Autosport International Trophy at Silverstone (40 laps of the GP circuit):

In his first ever F3000 outing, Brazilian Ricardo Rosset produced a commanding victory, leading the 1995 season opener from start to finish. Rosset smoothly built up a 10s lead by about half distance, then eased off to hold that gap for the rest of the race.

Super Nova - in only its second season of F3000 - had been quick or quickest everywhere in pre-season testing, but experience usually counts for much in F3000. A debut win by Rosset - the only rookie in the top six - and in particular such a dominant one was therefore not widely expected. Last year's championship contender Sospiri seemed better prepared, at least for the early stages.

Allan McNish, returning to F3000 after testing contracts with McLaren and Benetton, recovered from a dreadful start to work his way back up to third; a lack of laps prevented him from mounting a serious challenge for second place.

Marc Goosens put in a promising performace with the new Lola-Cosworth, only being denied a podium position by a charging McNish with a handful of laps to go. The Lola chassis had been generally off the pace last year, and the last four championships were won in Reynards.

Kenny Brack continued his good form from the latter part of last year, and Christian Pescatori - in a '95 spec. racer after an impressive season with a year-old car - drove well to sixth.
