GP2 Series test new drivers at the Paul Ricard HTTT

After a fascinating 2006 season, GP2 Series realised their first collective winter test on the Paul Ricard HTTT 3D track solution (3.853 km).

The main objective of the GP2 Series teams was to test new drivers for the forthcoming 2007 season. Amongst the 32 drivers of this test session, 15 made their debuts in GP2 Series, some of them even with different teams. This first experience allowed them to test different way of working, and also to prove themselves in order to try to land a wheel in the series, which is known to introduce young drivers in Formula 1.

During this two test days, the teams completed 11,613 km and Austrian Andreas Zuber (iSport International) set the overall best lap time in 1:13.763.

The weather conditions of these two days allow drivers to test different race conditions as such rain and fog on Tuesday, and sunshine and wind on Wednesday).

New collective GP2 Series tests will take place at the Paul Ricard HTTT on 31st of October and the 1st of November, and then teams will test in Jerez and Valencia to end 2006.
