The Winter Cup of the Italian Formula Renault started last weekend in the circuit of Magione.
Fourth argentins drivers arrived to Italy with the expectative of add experience and seduce some team in the Old Continent.
No doubt that Esteban Guerrieri, the most experimented of the argentinians, was who left Magione with the biggest smile. Because he won in the first race and he finished third in the second, which gave him the leadership of this short championship that will end next weekend in this same circuit.
The young driver of seventeen years disputed the championship of the German Formula Renault, where he finished the season third with fourth victories and six podiums, with the Jenzer Motorsport and now he is in the Cram Competition, the same team where José María López won the championship of the Italian Formula Renault and finished fourth in the European Championship.
Guerrieri, champion of the Argentinian Formula Renault in 2000, took the pole position for the first competition and qualified sixth, with the unexoected rain, for the second race. ¨In the first race I started very well and I was quick in spite that the track was wet. When I made an important difference I started to regulate and take care of the tyres. In the second race, with dry track, I started sixth, I was fifth in the first curve and fourth at the end of the lap. Pass the third costed me a lot, becuase Magione is a very short circuit and difficult to pass, but with a good maneuver I took the third place¨, said Esteban.
The others argentinians completed also a good work. While Matías Rossi, eighteen years and champion 2002 of the Formula Super Renault in Argentina, finished sixth the two races after started eighth in both, Eric Borsani, driver of the Argentinian Formula Renault, arrived eighth and tenth in the two competitions of the rookies categorie, after started thirteeenth and fourteenth. The first race between the rookies was won by the Italian Giorgio Bonetti of the Drumel Motorsport and the second by the Venezuelan Parstor Maldonado of the Prema team.
The next compromise for the argentinians will this Wendsday 20 with practice day. On Thursday will be the qualify day and on Friday will dispute the two finals races. For the second part of the championship Eric Borsani will be replace by the young Juan Manuel Passera in the Drumel Motorsport.
By other way, Andrés Ríos (ex Mazda Cup) won the two competitions of the Monza Formula Renault disputed also in Magione and is the leader of the championship in the Winter Cup. ¨This is a great result¨ said the driver of eighteen years.
