All Stars Set for Y2K with Florida Speedweeks
PONCE INLET, FL - The All Star sprints hit the track for the first time in the new millenium with the traditional Florida Speedweeks series at Volusia and East Bay Speedways in February, 2000. Volusia Speedway Park will host All Star Sprint Car races Feb. 10-13, 2000 at the half-mile dirt track located 20 minutes from Daytona Beach. Track owner Dick Murphy said next year’s event will pay $4,000 to win on the three preliminary nights and $7,000 to win for the Sunday night final. The 24th annual East Bay Nationals, at Stanley Kolan’s East Bay Raceway in Gibsonton near Tampa will run Wed. Feb. 13 through Sat. Feb. 19. Each preliminary event pays $4,000 to win with the big Saturday night finale paying $10,000 for the winner of the 50 lap contest.
It’s business as usual for Bert Emick’s All Stars as they hit the track next week, for the Thunder Through the Plains Tour, starting Monday Aug. 16 at Eagle Raceway, Wed. at Salina Speedway, Friday at 81 Speedway and Saturday night at Tulsa Speedway.
