Brock set the fastest lap about half second faster than Gardner. John Bowe had two spins, but recovered to be third fastest, in his newly built=

Ford Falcon.  Mark Skaife qualified 4th, but was quite happy with his
position.  He also accused Brock and other of using soft compound tires,
that he says will not last the distance.  Brock had an early excursion in

the dirt. While passing Brock, Dick Johnson commented on his race cam "Throw Brock a shovel" but the quick witted Dick, as he was approaching the same corner met with the same fate, a closer look at the Eastern Creek run off areas.

Tomorrow shapes up to be a competitive race, especially with the aggressive Gardner pushing the pace and Seton desperately chasing championship points.
