CAN: Series Mosport practice notes

Ciekiewicz, Thomson Fastest in First Castrol Touring Car Practice at Mosport's Victoria Day SpeedFest

(BOWMANVILLE, ON -- June 12, 2010) -- Donington Wenzel Motorsport's Dave Ciekiewicz laid down the fastest time in the opening practice session for the Castrol Canadian Touring Car Championship at the Vortex Brake Pads 200 at Mosport International Raceway.

Ciekiewicz, driving a Subaru WRX led the Super Touring class with a quick lap of 1:54.538, which was nine tenths (0.907) of a second faster than the Audette Racing of Mathieu Audette (1:55.445). Gary Kwok of M&S Racing was third in ST with a time of 1:57.540 in his Acura CSX.

In the Touring class, Karl Thomson of Durabond Racing set the pace in his Honda Civic with a time of 1:58.790. Close behind was the Can-Saf Motorsports Mazda Protege of Kurt Langeveldt, who was a tenth (0.139) of a second back. Nigel Heron put in a fast lap of 1:59.039 put him third in class in his Acura Type R.

Saturday qualifying will take place from 10:05 a.m. -- 10:30 a.m. and the 30-minute heat race will get underway at 1:25 pm.
