CHEVROLET MAKE THE PACE
The third FIA European Touring Car Cup got underway today at the Adria Raceway in Italy with four 60-minute test sessions. The weather was drizzly for the first two sessions, and the track wet. In spite of this lap times were faster and faster as the competitors got to know where to put their wheels.
Eventually the rain stopped and the third and fourth sessions were held on a drying track that was very tricky because of the puddles.
In the Super 2000 class Chevrolet Motorsport Danmark drivers, Pontus Morth and Henrik Lundgaard made their ambitions clear from the very beginning posting the two fastest laps of the day: 1:35.642 for the Swedish Morth and 1:37.064 for his Danish team-mate.
Russian drivers declared themselves as the men to beat in the Super Production class; the day's best lap was clocked by Aimol Racing's Dmitry Dobrovolskiy in his Opel Astra Coupe (1:43.589).
Tomorrow morning the drivers will take part in two 30-minute free sessions (at 9.00 and 11.30) that will be followed in the afternoon (at 15.00) by the 30-minute qualifying session that will determine the grid for Sunday's Race 1.
