KUNO WITTMER QUICKEST HONDA/MICHELIN CHALLENGE SERIES DRIVER AT MOSPORT
TORONTO, September 2, 2005 - Kuno Wittmer posted the fastest lap in Friday's Honda/Michelin Challenge Series practice session held at Mosport International Raceway. The Honda de Sigi Autosport driver lapped the 3.957-kilometre road course in 1 minute 42.944 seconds to edge Robert Boyer by 0.111 seconds. The Lombardi Honda Racing driver was timed at 1:43.055. Third quickest of Round 7 was Frédérick Lelièvre (1:43.076) followed by Series defending champion Steven Laporte (1:43.213).
Points leader Nick Wittmer was fifth fastest (1:43.342) ahead of Didier Schraenen (1:43.649). The top six drivers are separated by only seven tenths of a second. Emmanuel Boivin-Moreau, rookie Tyler Givogue, John Sherk and Kris Rams rounded out the top ten.
On Tap Saturday...
Honda/Michelin Series drivers will be back on track Saturday for a 30-minute qualifying session at 10:15 a.m. The results will set the grid for Sunday's 18-lap, or 30-minute race scheduled to start at 1:05 p.m.
In the points standing, Nick Wittmer is first with 178 points, but his lead is only 3 points over Laporte. Kuno Wittmer is third with 172 points, followed by Schraenen with 166. Alex Penfold is fifth with 157, ahead of Lelièvre with 149 and Boyer with 134 points.
