Limoges jumps into back up entry to make Mid-Ohio race
Lexington, OH (24 June 2006)--Valerie Limoges will start the Blackforest Motorsports Group No. 8 USG Sheetrock/Ramset Tools Mustang FR500C from thirty-first on the grid at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course for the Grand Am Cup 200 on Sunday afternoon. Limoges will share the Mustang with the affable and quick Guy Cosmo for the eighty-nine lap race, which is round six of the 2006 Grand Am Cup Series season.
After having set times well in the top ten during the opening practice sessions, the qualifying result was a disappointment for Limoges, but after losing a motor in the final practice session, Limoges had to jump into a back up car just to qualify and make the race.
"The car was not set up at all for the track, so we had a huge push and I had to wait forever to get to the power," said Limoges. "But we were lucky that we got to use the car in qualifying and for the race, and at least we have another practice session tomorrow to make some changes on the car."
The 2.238-mile natural terrain road course is a track that most drivers relish racing on, and Limoges has added her name to that list of fans this weekend after getting her first official laps under her belt this weekend.
"I like this track a lot," said Limoges. "I was quick here right away, so of course the qualifying has me really frustrated. I think this is going to be a good track for passing because of the long straights, but of course there is a balance we have to find because you also spend a lot of time in some slower more technical sections. But it's just a fun track to drive, no question!"
