BGTC: Knockhill: Simon Pullan preview

Pullan aiming for points at Knockhill.

Lincolnshire's Simon Pullan continues his inaugural season of British GT Championship competition at Knockhill in Scotland this coming weekend, May 11-12.

The twisty 1.3 mile circuit has long since been a British GT favourite. The narrow confines and relatively short lap make for exciting racing, with the leading GT cars forced to mix it with the GTO class for most of the race distance. Although last year's race was almost a washout as the circuit was battered with heavy rain storms for most of the weekend, Pullan is sure a strong showing is on the cards for round four.

"I last raced at Knockhill in 2000 in a Caterham Roadsport and remember it to be a great circuit. It's going to be an interesting one, that much is certain. The Calum Lockie /Jamie Davies Ferrari is a very quick car in the corners and will probably be our main opposition this weekend due to the nature of the track.

"The Texaco TVR Tuscan R is very well set up and seems to perform well on most circuits so we're obviously going to be going for the race win. Having said that, I don't think I'll be too worried if we're not first past the flag as long as we're up there in the points and on the pace. Winning is good but consistency is better because ultimately, that's what wins championships."

Along with his Rollcentre Racing team mate Martin Short, Pullan, 19, has enjoyed a near perfect start to the year with two race wins and a second place in the opening three rounds. The pair now lead the GTO class standings with a sixteen point advantage over their nearest rivals, Godfrey and David Jones. "Rollcentre Racing have produced a fantastic car that has served us well so far this year," Pullan commented.

"We've started as we mean to go on in terms of consistency and reliability and that's something that we definitely want to carry with us as we move into the busiest part of the season."

"Luckily we had no problems at Silverstone last weekend as it's a very quick turnaround from here on in. The team will check the car over to make sure there's no problems and then it's straight up to Scotland for round four."
