SRT travels to Monza as leader
This coming weekend Tom Cloet and SRT travel on down to Monza for the third round of the FIA GT Citation Cup. Following on from victories in Silverstone and Bucharest the Belgian team are leading the Citation Cup with the maximum number of points and SRT are fully determined to retain this position. "This is why we are calling on the services of a local driver for the competition in Monza. The Italian Mauro Casadei will be defending our colours on the fastest circuit of the year with our regular driver Tom Cloet", Patrick Selleslagh commented. Mauro Casadei has previously competed in the FIA GT for amongst others, Haberthur, JMB and Proton Competition in de FIA GT and knows the ropes well.
Monza is the third race of the new Citation Cup and once again SRT are competing against Ferrari's 575 and 550, Maserati's MC12 and one Viper. "And this Italian machinery will definitely feel at home on this legendary Monza circuit", the young Tom Cloet from the West Flanders remarks, being fully aware of the competition. "But we're going to draw the line on through and fully defend our leader's position. Monza is entirely new for me, which doesn't make the job any easier, but I'm pretty confident. The collaboration with Patrick Selleslagh and his SRT team is running smoothly and Mauro Casadei is an experienced driver who will undoubtedly be an additional trump card for us in Monza Under these conditions the new circuit shouldn't create a problem." Mauro Casadei is one of the regular gentleman drivers in the international GT racing world and will be making his debut in the Citation Cup. This 47 year old Italian entrepreneur, hailing from Cattolica, fits perfectly in the philosophy of the Citation Cup. In the past he has driven a Ferrari 575, now one of SRT's contenders in the Citation Cup.
For SRT Monza represents a summer intermezzo. Following on from Monza the Belgian Corvette team will head for Spa for the official test day of the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps. For this specific race the team has attracted four Belgian drivers, but more details on this will follow.
On 7th and 8th July the fourth round of the French GT Championship, the FFSA GT is being held. Eric Cayrolle and Laurent Cazenave are defending their fifth place in the championship after Val-de-Vienne, but the ambition is a third spot behind the unapproachable Oreca works machines.
SRT will be rounding off its summer season at Spa, where the team will be competing for the fifth consecutive time in the 24 Hours. Full details regarding the drivers, commercial partners and the ambitions of the Corvette-team will follow shortly.
