Disappointing Iowa race for Joel Miller

Joel Miller leaves the Star Mazda presented by Goodyear Iowa race disappointed but looks forward to getting back on track. Miller ran at the upper part of the charts during all pre qualifying testing and was leading at various stages. However, his efforts were not rewarded as a main spark plug wire broke during the out lap of qualifying.

This rendered Miller down on power whereby leaving him to start at the tail of the field. Working with his new race engineer at Andersen Racing they put together a package to come from the back of the grid for the Friday night race. At the drop of the green flag Miller put his head down and started his charge. On the first 2 laps he stayed on the outside line and went all the way up to 14th from 20th before a caution period.

On that restart, he pushed forward again with the top 10 insight as he maneuvered through the field. Unfortunately, disaster struck as Miller was left with no way out of an incident an got collected by another car.

"I finally had a car that I felt could go to the front My new team gave me a car that was good in traffic and capable of being fast straight out of the gate. I am very disappointed in how today worked out because I felt that even with the issue during qualifying, we still could have made it a good day. Looking onto the road courses, we will be ready to get back on track," stated Miller late Friday night.

The next round in the championship will be in 2 weeks at Autobahn which is in Joliet, Illinois near Chicago.
