In an announcement made on Tuesday, Chevrolet will take the place of Oldsmobile as an engine supplier to the Indy Racing Northern Light Series. The deal is set to run through the 2005 season. Chevrolet announced today the sponsorship of the second Indy Racing League event at Texas Motor Speedway, to be held September 16. Chevrolet will also sponsor the NASCAR Craftsman Truck race on the same weekend. The Indy Racing event will be known as the Chevy 500 while the truck race will be titled the Silverado 350.

A new interchange on I-35W, located on the northeast corner of the Texas Motor Speedway, will open on Friday, June 8, just in time for Friday night's O'Reilly 400 Craftsman Truck race

Indy racing drivers Eddie Cheever, Mark Dismore and Buddy Lazier will drive in the IROC race at Michigan International Speedway. The race is scheduled to start at noon on Saturday.

Jeret Schroeder has replaced Jon Herb as the driver of the No. 6 Tri Star Motorsports entry.

A free autograph session with all the Indy Racing drivers will take place behind the main grandstand at Texas Motor Speedway on Friday at 6:00 p.m.

David Starr will be driving a Craftsman truck purchased from Indy car team owner John Menard. Menard recently close his truck operation. Starr has made a deal with Menard to run the No. 3, saying, "He's kind of a part owner in this deal."

Eddie Cheever and Excite @ Home have parted company. Cheever's car is now entered as the Cheever Indy Racing Infiniti. Cheever Indy Racing enjoys associate sponsorship from Infiniti, Firestone, Menards, Bosch, True Grit and Evicti.

Greg Ray, of Plano, Texas, will drive Team Menard's Oldsmobile-powered Indy car in Sunday's race. While Greg is busy driving an Indy car at speeds over 200 mph, the family business, Plano Marine, will be showcasing the latest in powerboats just behind the main grandstand. Plano Marine is the largest boat dealer in North Texas, and is owned by Greg's father, Benny Ray.
