FORT WORTH-DALLAS (September 20, 2001) - The rescheduled Chevy 500 race week October 4-6 will bring day and nighttime racing back to Texas Motor Speedway. The original race weekend of September 13-16 was postponed following the recent terrorist attack on America.
The Silverado 350 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race will begin at 8:00 p.m. (Central Daylight Time) on Friday evening, October 5. Robbie Knievel's "$10 Million Texas Indy Car Jump" will be at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 6. The Chevy 500 Indy Racing Northern Light Series season finale will be staged Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
The Dallas Morning News Pole Day for the Silverado 350 will be Thursday, October 4 at 5:30 p.m. The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series will practice from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. prior to qualifying.
Indy Racing's Dallas Morning News Pole Day will be held Friday, October 5 at 4:00 p.m. which follows morning and afternoon practice sessions. Fans with Dallas Morning News Pole Day coupons will be admitted free of charge to Thursday and Friday's practice and qualifying sessions.
Spectators for Friday night's Silverado 350 will be admitted to the grandstands at 6:00 p.m. on race night. Fans attending the Dallas Morning News Pole Day earlier that day must exit the grandstand at the completion of qualifying and re-enter with a Silverado 350 race ticket to attend that evening's NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race.
General and VIP camping for the Chevy 500 will open Wednesday, October 3 at 8:00 a.m. Infield campers may enter the speedway Thursday, October 4 at 10:00 a.m. Tickets for the Chevy 500 and Silverado 350 are available daily at the speedway ticket office, by calling (817) 215-8500, online at www.texasmotorspeedway.com or at Ticketmaster locations.
