Al Unser Jr. ended the 1st day of on-track activity at the Excite 500 at Texas Motor Speedway in 13th position for the day. His top speed in the Galles ECR Racing Tickets.com Starz Encore Superpak Car was 212.970 mph, and he ran a total of 80 laps. Unser started 10th and finished 3rd at the Longhorn 500 at Texas Motorspeedway on June 10.
Al Unser Jr.:
"The track feels great, and I have a good car for raceday, which is a key to
running up front on raceday. Racing here in June was one of the greatest
races I have ever been in, and we just want to make sure that we have a car
that can race that hard again on Sunday. It is very competitive out there
right now, and I think we will see some more awesome wheel to wheel racing
again. We are going to make some changes with the car tonight and try to
gain some more speed for qualifying, but I am pleased with the overall
performance of the car for raceday, and that is what really matters."
