INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (August 2, 2002) - After a seven-year absence, "M&M's"® driver Ken Schrader returns to the True Value IROC Series this weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
The 18-year Winston Cup veteran was tapped to fill-in for injured World of Outlaws driver Danny Lasoski earlier this week. It will be Schrader's first time behind the wheel of an IROC car since 1995.
But Schrader won't be coming to the True Value IROC Series alone this weekend. Schrader's famous friends, the "M&M's"® Spokescandies, also will join him as he climbs into the car.
The "M&M's"® Spokescandies - Blue, Red, Yellow, Green and Crispy - will each be featured on the hoods of the True Value IROC cars for the season finale this Saturday. While the other 'M' Characters will make multiple appearances, Crispy is reserved only for Schrader.
Schrader has long been considered one of the busiest driver's in the garage area - running in excess of 80 races each year. Like Schrader, Crispy is always on the run.
"I'm really looking forward to driving in the IROC race this weekend, and I especially want to do well for Danny. We've been friends since before he could even drive a race car," Schrader said. "I'm a little nervous, and I'm sure it's going to help that I will have some familiar faces on board with me.
"Crispy is a pretty cool guy, and I'm glad he'll be hanging out on my car for the race."
Schrader will start from the pole for Saturday's race in the No. 12 aqua IROC car.
