Victory for Will Stevens in "The Trophee Julie Ponelli"
Will Stevens wins at first attempt in Europe
Will Stevens made a promising start to his European karting career by taking the Trophee Julie Tonelli at Brignoles on Sunday in the JICA class. After qualifying on pole and taking the pre-final, he won a hard fought victory in the final after at one stage being down in fourth. Will tested at the circuit in the week before with top European karter Jules Bianchi at his home circuit near Marseille in the South of France. Will said, "I really enjoyed the whole experience and can't wait to compete in Europe again, the standard of racing here is very high but I hope to make a strong challenge at the main events".
Will is combining a number of the big meetings in Europe with his attempt on both the Super 1 and BRDC Stars of Tomorrow Championships in the UK. Having won three of the four national mini-max titles in 2004, he is focussing solely on the JICA class in 2005.
