'Racing Dreams' film to open in several cities May 21

04.16.2010 - "Racing Dreams," the award-winning documentary that follows the lives of three young WKA Speedway Pavement Series racers, will open Friday, May 21, in Atlanta; Birmingham; Charlotte; Dallas / Ft. Worth; Fort Smith, Ark.; Greenville, S.C.; Houston; Nashville; Orlando; Raleigh and Tampa. These openings will precede June 4 openings in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago.

Directed by Academy Award-nominated documentary filmmaker Marshall Curry and executive produced by actor Dwayne Johnson, the award-winning documentary follows 11-year-old Annabeth Barnes, 12-year-old Josh Hobson and 13-year-old Brandon Warren as they compete for the championship in the World Karting Association's five-race national Pavement Series.

The film follows the lives of these young drivers as they race their way through WKA's only national asphalt-oval series. In addition to terrific footage of the on-track action, the film focuses on the trio of youths' navigation through the treacherous road between childhood and young adulthood.

Distribution company Hannover House recently acquired "Racing Dreams," and a feature film remake is in development at Dreamworks.
