Michigan karter wins twice in Elite Karting Grand Nationals
DANVILLE, VIRGINIA - Michigan kart racer Patrick Lawrence will be fitted with two special trophy leather jackets after he competed in three classes at Virginia International Raceway as part of the WKA's Dunlop Tire Road Race Series. Lawrence's efforts brought him two class wins and a DNF due to an electrical failure.
"In the 100cc controlled race I battled with Travis Miller after Mike Spear suffered a flat tire after contact with a lapped kart," as Lawrence explained his victory.
The second race for Lawrence was the Controlled limited class. "I got a hole shot on the field, but 2nd place of Mike Spear Jr. ran me down after my ignition started to fail me."
Lawrence's second win of the weekend came in the Spec 100cc controlled class. "In my final race Mike Spear and I battled for the entire time but with two laps left I got in the lead and took it to the flag", said Lawrence. "In all of my races the kart handled the same from beginning to end, which was great! The only problem was the ignition failure in the controlled limited race."
