Race Venue For First Briggs & Stratton Dirt Series Event Has Changed
01.08.2009 - As the 2009 racing season steadily approaches, there has been a change to the first venue for the Briggs & Stratton Speedway Dirt Series. Originally scheduled for Low Country Kartway in Aynor, South Carolina, the first venue will now be the Hanging Rock Kartway in Kershaw, South Carolina March 27-29.
This marks WKA's return to the Palmetto State facility for the first time in many years. Under the ownership of Brian Hutto, the two groups will come together to unveil what promises to be a very positive and successful 2009-racing season. Many special announcements regarding the Dirt Series program will be forthcoming in the next week.
With the announcement of the venue change, competitors will have three new venues to the national scene to compete at, Hanging Rock, Liberty Raceway in North Carolina in July, and Hurricane Raceway in Georgia for the September finale. Adding to that will be two top notch facilities of Margarettsville Speedway in April, as well as the June stop to Dexter Raceway in Georgia
As part of the changing weekend schedule, competitors will have the chance to arrive on Friday March 27th, as early as noontime, to begin parking. Pre entry Pickup and Tech will take place at 4pm. There will be no practice on Friday.
Saturday's action will begin with the first of three rounds of practice beginning at 9am, followed by qualifying at 1:15, and the mains to follow. On Sunday, activities will begin at 8am, featuring 2 rounds of practice with qualifying and main events to follow.

KartFest Is Just Around The Corner
01.08.2009 - Contrary to the most popular rumor being spread about WKA right now, the annual 2009 KartFest is alive and well. The event will be held on January 23 -- 24 at the Hickory Metro Convention Center in Hickory, NC. It's a great way to remain involved in karting through the long winter months. We hope to see everyone at the show and the 2008 Awards Banquets for the Dirt, Gold Cup and Pavement Series.
