BEAUCHAMP WINS LAST-LAP DUEL IN CASCAR SUPER SERIES RACE

PETERBOROUGH, Ontario, Canada (Aug. 22, 2005) -- Ron Beauchamp shrugged off a terrific challenge from Kerry Micks on the final lap and held on to win the Logel's Auto Parts 200 in the CASCAR Super Series at Peterborough Speedway.

Beauchamp and Micks made hard contact on the final lap, but Beauchamp was able to recover and stay in front. His margin of victory was a scant .177 of a second.

Micks finished second, followed by Dave Whitlock, D.J. Kennington and Steve Steckly.

Goodyear is the exclusive tire provider for CASCAR racing and sponsors the Goodyear Belts and Hoses Fastest Lap Award. Micks won the Award on the 12th lap when he circled the one-third-mile oval in 14.363 seconds.

Micks' lap early in the race was nearly as fast as the record-setting, pole-winning lap he produced in qualifying. Micks' lap of 14.199 seconds set a Super Series record at the track.

Beauchamp averaged 58.590 mph.

The next race for the Super Series is scheduled for Sept. 3-4 at Delaware Speedway in London, Ontario.
