SCOTT STECKLY'S SUCCESS STREAK STILL STANDS STRONG
ST. EUSTACHE, Quebec, Canada (July 7, 2008) -- Scott Steckly started seventh and did not get to the front until well beyond the halfway point but he won the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series Kodak 250 stock car race at Autodrome St. Eustache. It was his fourth win in the last five races, extending back to the end of the 2007 season.
The Canadian Tire Series is a long-standing part of Goodyear's racing program. The series uses the same line of bias-ply tires Goodyear supplies to the NASCAR Camping World Series East and West programs.
Steckly took the lead on the 188th lap of the 250-lap chase around the 4/10-mile, flat paved oval. He led the rest of the way, finishing with a 2.5-second margin of victory over D.J. Kennington. Kerry Micks finished third, followed by Andrew Ranger and J.R. Fitzpatrick.
Don Thomson Jr. won the pole with a lap averaging 83.629 mph.
Steckly left the track leading the championship standings with 725 points. Kennington is second with 612.
