BILL ELLIOTT (No. 9 Dodge Dealers Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Elliott will drive the same chassis that finished 37th earlier this
season at Richmond. Elliott won the pole and race at Richmond on March 8,
1992. He finished fifth last week at Darlington, his second top five finish
in the past three races and his fourth top 10 in the last six starts. The
45-year-old 1988 NASCAR Winston Cup champion from Dawsonville, Ga., moved to
14th in the NWCS and is only 54 points behind 11th-place Steve Park. Elliott
will make career start No. 649 on Saturday night.
WARD BURTON (No. 22 Caterpillar Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Burton, one of five drivers competing in the No Bull 5 program at
Richmond, will drive his New Hampshire chassis at Richmond. Burton finished
20th at NHIS. Fresh off his third career victory in last week's Mountain Dew
Southern 500 at Darlington, Burton ranks 17th in the NWCS. He finished 21st
at Richmond in May. The 39-year-old driver from South Boston, Va., made his
first Cup start at Richmond in 1994. He started 29th and finished 35th in
that event. Burton will make career start No. 240 on Saturday night.
DAVE BLANEY (No. 93 Amoco Ultimate Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Blaney will bring the same chassis to Richmond that he raced earlier this
season at Loudon, N.H. He started 34th and finished 37th in that event.
Blaney finished 33rd earlier this season at Richmond. The 36-year-old driver
from Hartford, Ohio, ranks 24th in the NWCS after his 19th-place finish at
Darlington and will make career start No. 65 on Saturday night.
JOHN ANDRETTI (No. 43 Cheerios Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Andretti will bring his Indianapolis and Michigan chassis to Richmond.
He's recorded 14th and 26th-place finishes, respectively, in the Petty
Enterprises Dodge Intrepid R/T. Andretti finished 21st last week at
Darlington and 34th in May at Richmond. The 38-year-old driver from
Indianapolis, Ind., ranks 29th in the NWCS and will make career start No. 252
on Saturday night.
CASEY ATWOOD (No. 19 Dodge Dealers Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Atwood will race the same chassis that carried him to a 12th-place finish
earlier this season at Richmond. The 21-year-old Raybestos Rookie of the Year
contender from Nashville, Tenn., made his Cup debut at Richmond last
September. He started 35th and finished 19th in that event. Atwood finished
25th last week at Darlington and ranks 31st in the NWCS and third in the
rookie race.
STACY COMPTON (No. 92 Kodiak Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Compton will race the chassis that carried him to a 31st-place finish
earlier this season at New Hampshire. Compton finished 42nd last week at
Darlington and 29th earlier this season at Richmond. He ranks 34th in the
NWCS and will make career start No. 56 on Saturday night.
JASON LEFFLER (No. 01 Cingular Wireless Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Leffler's Richmond chassis competed earlier this season at Richmond,
Loudon and Bristol. It's recorded finishes of 26th, 27th and 30th,
respectively. Leffler pulled double duty last week at Darlington. He finished
43rd in the Cingular Dodge after an early accident and overheating engine. He
then stepped in for an ailing Buckshot Jones in the No. 44 Georgia Pacific
Dodge and brought that car home 35th. The 25-year-old Raybestos Rookie of the
Year contender ranks 37th in the NWCS and is tied with Ron Hornaday for
fourth in the rookie race.
BUCKSHOT JONES (No. 44 Georgia Pacific Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Jones will drive the same chassis that he drove to a 39th-place finish in
the Pennsylvania 500 at Pocono. Jones was credited with a 35th-place finish
last week at Darlington. He failed to qualify earlier this season at
Richmond, and the 31-year-old driver from Tucker, Ga., will his his 38th
career Cup start on Saturday night. He ranks 40th in the NWCS.
KYLE PETTY (No. 45 Sprint Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Petty will compete with the same chassis he used earlier this season at
Richmond, Bristol and Dover. He finished 22nd earlier this season at
Richmond. Petty's first career Cup victory came at Richmond on Feb. 23, 1986
in his 170th career start. Petty finished 26th last week at Darlington and
ranks 42nd in the NWCS. The 41-year-old driver from Randleman, N.C., will
make career start No. 602 on Saturday night.
