Schrader's Thoughts On The MBNA Platinum 400...
"Dover is a pretty demanding race for all of us, but I think that is part
of the fun when we go there. I like running at Dover, and the "M&M's"®
Racing Team has done okay there in the past, but I'm just not a big fan
of that concrete racing surface. What Dover has in its favor though is a
great configuration and a wide racing groove. We can run three wide from
the track apron all the way up to the wall, and that makes for some great
racing.
"We got bitten by one of those odd things that happens in racing at Dover in the spring. The "M&M's"® car was pretty good during the race, and with about 30 laps race the track bar broke. We're hoping to leave the bad luck behind us this time, and build on our 13th place finish last weekend."
"M&M's"® Racing At Dover International Speedway ...
* The "M&M's"® Racing Team will honor America this weekend and pay
tribute to all the fallen heroes of last year's September 11th
tragedy. The No. 36 will carry an American flag on the deck lid of
the car as well as flags on the B-post this weekend at Dover.
* Ken Schrader and the "M&M's"® Racing Team have qualified in the top 15 for the past two events at Dover International Speedway. The "M&M's"® team hopes to continue their successful qualifying runs this weekend. The team will bring the same No. 36 Pontiac that they used during the race in June. The car was solid for most of the day, but a broken track bar relegated the team to a 36th-place finish.
"It was just another one of those days for us at Dover in June," said crew chief Newt Moore. "We know that we have a good team, we've got good cars, we've had good pit stops and we have had some really good runs. We're just still looking for the finishes."
* Schrader has two wins at the "Monster Mile" - one in a Busch car and one in the Winston Cup car in 1991. The 18-year Winston Cup veteran has always enjoyed racing at Dover, but he was a bigger fan of the track before the surface was changed to concrete. Both of Schrader's wins came on Dover's asphalt surface.
