No 17 crew members win award

Sporting News Magazine Names No. 17 DEWALT Crew members Smith, Binger to 2009 All-Star Team

CONCORD, N.C. (Feb. 10, 2009) - A recent issue of Sporting News Magazine highlighting the 2009 All-Star team of NASCAR paid high tribute to the No. 17 DEWALT Team, naming rear-tire changer Dave Smith and rear-tire carrier Jason Binger best in the business at their respective traits.

Smith, who hails from Baltimore, Md., was a member of the celebrated Killer Bees crew that captured back-to-back Unocal Pit Crew Challenge titles in 2001 and 2002. He is described by the magazine as "lightning-fast and unerring with the air gun-one reason Kenseth almost always gains positions on pit road."

Binger, a San Antonio, Texas native, has teamed up with Smith since 2007. The duo won top honors at the Sprint Pit Crew Challenge in 2008.

The magazine also named Roush Fenway team owner Jack Roush as the best owner in NASCAR. In addition, former No. 17 team car chief Jeff Vandermoss (No. 28 team) was named best car chief and Roush Fenway teammate Joe "Hoss" Karasinski (No. 99 team) was named best gas man.
