Dexter Bean Overcomes The Odds; Will Make Busch Series Debut
MEMPHIS, Tennessee (Saturday, October 28, 2006) - - Dexter Bean will never forget Memphis Motorsports Park. After posting the 44th fastest time during Friday's practice session, the BlackJack Racing team guided by crew chief Jeff Spraker of Spraker Enterprises adjusted the No. 63 JDRF.org-Five Star Telecom Ford hoping to have an impact in qualifying.
The changes paid off.
During Saturday's time trials session for the Sam's Town 250, Bean maneuvered his machine around the track at 23.382 seconds or 115.473 mph securing the 37th starting position for this afternoon's event. Bean will make his NASCAR Busch Series debut on a wave of momentum coming off three top-ten finishes and a pole at Salem Speedway in the last four ARCA races of the season.
"This is huge," said a jubilant Bean. "We knew we had to pick up the pace and we did. I didn't leave anything on the table, the car stuck and we made the show. I just want to thank everyone on the BlackJack Racing team including the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and Five Star Telecom for their support this weekend. He added, "Now that we made the race, we just want to finish the race, that's our main goal."
