GREG BIFFLE, NO. 16 CITIFINANCIAL TEAM GEARING UP FOR LAST RACE OF 2008
CONCORD, N.C. (September 23, 2008) - The NASCAR Nationwide Series heads to Kansas Speedway this weekend for race number 30 in the 35 event season. For Greg Biffle and the No. 16 CitiFinancial team, however, this weekend marks the end of 2008. The part-time team will make one last run at a win before turning their sights on preparation for 2009.
The No. 16 team has competed in 21 races this season, 14 with Biffle and the remainder with Colin Braun and Jamie McMurray. The team has accumulated two poles, six top-five and 12 top-ten finishes. Biffle has four top-five finishes and 10 top-10 efforts driving the No. 16 CitiFinancial Ford this season, with his best finish of second coming at Las Vegas in March. Braun also took the runner-up position in Indianapolis in July.
"It's a little bittersweet," said crew chief Eddie Pardue. "We'd all love to keep going and finish out the year but that's not how the schedule worked out this season. I hate that we haven't won a race yet but I think we have a strong chance of doing that this weekend. Kansas is one of Greg's best tracks and we all want to end the season on a high note. It'll be a long off season if we end 2008 without a win."
"We've had a good year," said Biffle. "I feel like we've been getting better every week. Eddie and the guys work really hard and they've given me great cars this year. I think we have a lot to build off of to get ready for next year and we'll be even better come Daytona. Of all tracks to close the year out, I'm excited that it's Kansas. That's definitely one of my favorite tracks and it'd be the perfect place for our first win."
McMurray and Carl Edwards will be representing CitiFinancial for the remainder of the season with McMurray running the bulk of the races in the No. 17 CitiFinancial Ford Fusion. Edwards will run the No. 60 CitiFinancial Ford Fusion at Memphis Motorsports Park in October.
