The NASCAR Featherlite Modified Tour ends their season this Saturday (1 November) at Richmond International Raceway. This is the last big race of 1997 in the mid-atlantic region.
The Fall 300 at RIR is a doubleheader with 150 lap races for the NASCAR Modifieds and NASCAR Late Model Stock Cars.
The NASCAR Modified cars are well suited to RIR's three-quarter mile track. There will be plenty of side by side action at speeds that would make the Winston Cup drivers jealous.
Mike Stefanik, 1997 Featherlite champion, holds the NASCAR track record at RIR with a lap timed at 21.483, at an average speed of 125.681 miles per hour. The Featherlite Modifieds haven't visited the Richmond oval since April of 1993 and the record is sure to fall. Track officials expect to see speeds in the 127-128 mile per hour range.
If you're looking for one more exciting race to hold you over until the snows melt and tracks open for 1998, make sure you're at Richmond this weekend for the Fall 300.
