BENNETT RECORDS FAST TIME FOR TURN 1 ENERGY DRINK 125

MONROE, Wash. (Aug. 13, 2005) -- Travis Bennett won the Bud Pole for the Turn 1 Energy Drink 125 presents by QFC in the NASCAR AutoZone Elite Division, Northwest Series at Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, Wash. He patrolled the .646-mile oval in 22.686 second (102.513 mph).

Bennett, who hails from Ellensburg, Wash. collected his second Bud Pole in three events and was his second of the season. The two poles are the first of his Northwest Series career.

Bennett drew a 10 in the random draw for the series-mandated invert of six, eight or ten cars to begin the event. That was the least of Bennett's problems as he will start in the back of the field due to a motor change after the cars were impounded.

Gary Lewis had the second-fastest time while Jeff Bailey was the third. Jeff Barkshire and Jeff Jefferson rounded out the top five.

The engines are expected to fire at approximately 8:30 p.m. PDT for the main event.
