EVANS WINS WENATCHEE 125 BUD POLE
EAST WENATCHEE, Wash. (September 16, 2006) -- Garrett Evans posted the quickest lap in Bud Pole qualifying at the Wenatchee 125, the NASCAR AutoZone Elite Division event at Wenatchee Valley's Super Oval in East Wenatchee, Wash.
Out of East Wenatchee, Wash., Evans patrolled the 1/4-mile oval in 12.807 seconds which translates to an average speed of 70.274 mph. It is his third Bud Pole of the season, the 10th of his career at his home track and the 66th of his Northwest Series career. The four-time champion drew a six for the invert to start the race.
Second quick was Jeff Barkshire, out of Auburn, Wash. at 12.812 seconds (70.247 mph) followed by Brandon Riehl at 12.877 seconds (69.892 mph).
The green flag is expected to wave at 8:30 p.m. PDT in this, the final NASCAR AutoZone Elite Division event in its 22-year history. Gary Lewis needs to merely take the green flag to win his second Northwest Series points championship, but there is still plenty on the line. Six of the top 10 spots in points are up for grabs as the teams jockey for one of the 10 invitations to the NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown. Also, five drivers have a shot to win the Sunoco Rookie-of-the-Year Award.
