All Camaro Final in Phoenix

Today's final round in Funny Car is a Camaro vs. Camaro match, as Ron Capps, winner in Pomona, and Chuck Etchells, new to Team Chevrolet this year, will face off. Capps, in the Copenhagen Camaro Z28 Funny Car, is looking for his fourth Funny Car title. Etchells, in the Kendall/Ma Ma Rosa's Pizza/Superwinch Camaro Z28 Funny Car, is looking for his first Funny Car victory in a Camaro, his 11th of his career.

NOTE: This is the first ever all-Camaro final in NHRA Funny Car history. There was an all-Chevy final in 1985, however, here at Firebird International Raceway, when John Collins, in an '85 Camaro, defeated John Force, in an '85 Corvette. (Camaro: 5.927/225.00, Corvette: 11.336/66.86).

Capps defeated Dale Creasy Jr., Al Hofmann and Dean Skuza to reach the finals. Etchells eliminated Mitch McDowell, Whit Bazemore and Randy Anderson to make it into the finals.
