Jason Line captures second No. 1 of year

BRISTOL, Tenn. (April 29, 2006) -- Dating back to the Mac Tools U. S. Nationals of last year, for the 12th time in the last 12 races a KB Racing LLC/Summit Racing Equipment Pontiac GTO is No. 1. This time Jason Line took top honors at this weekend's sixth annual NHRA O'Reilly Thunder Valley Nationals, recording an elapsed time of 6.727 seconds.

It was Line's second No. 1 of the 2006 NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series and the sixth of his career.

Also, Line's teammate Greg Anderson, who drives an identically prepared KB Racing LLC/Summit Racing Equipment Pontiac GTO, finished qualifying in the No. 2 spot. It is the 14th time that the pair have been one two on the final qualifying ladder since Line joined Anderson in 2003 and the third time this year.

"I didn't really think we'd go much faster today, but I was wrong," said Line. "The cooler weather tomorrow] will make it interesting. It's good and bad. It all comes down to who makes the best guess on the tune-up both engine-wise and chassis-wise.

"Obviously, with the Pro Stock cars being naturally aspirated, they pick up a lot of power when the air gets cool like that, so it'll be interesting. I always think it's kind of fun because it evens everybody up. Greg's still got the quickest car (Anderson was quickest in the fourth and final qualifying session), we just happened to make the quickest pass of the weekend. We struggled a little bit initially, but I think we're creeping up on it as far as the engine tune-up goes.

"This is a great place to come race. I really like it here. It's where I got my license the first time I ever drove, so whether it's cold or warm, it's certainly a beautiful place and a great place to come race."

Line will face Ron Krisher, who qualified No. 16 with an elapsed time of 6.764 seconds, in the opening round of tomorrow's eliminations. In five previous meetings between the two, Line holds a four to one career edge..
