KIRKERSVILLE, Ohio (May 21, 2006) -- Jason Line advanced to the semifinals before losing to Jim Yates at the just completed 42nd NHRA Pontiac Performance Nationals presented by Summit Racing Equipment.
After defeating Dave Northrop and Dave Connolly in the first two rounds of eliminations, Line, behind the wheel of his KB Racing LLC/Summit Racing Equipment Pro Stock Pontiac GTO, squared off against Jim Yates.
Yates was away first, banking a .024-second advantage at the green. Line covered the National Trail Raceway quarter-mile in 6.687 seconds. Yates crossed the finish line in 6.703 second, .008 seconds ahead of Line.
"All in all for Columbus I would have to give the crew and the car an A-plus," said Line following eliminations. "I'd give the driver a C-minus. The driver didn't do a very good job. We definitely ran well this weekend, good enough to win I believe. We had moments but unfortunately it didn't parlay into a win."
Line remains second in points in the NHRA POWERade Pro Stock point standings. He is 30 points behind teammate Greg Anderson, who leads, and 18 points ahead of Jim Yates, who won today's Pro Stock class.
Next up for Line is the O'Reilly Summer Nationals at Heartland Park Topeka (Kan.) over the Memorial Day weekend (May 25-28).
