New Charter Communications Chevy Runs 6.662 Seconds
COMMERCE, Ga., April 26, 2008 -- So far, so good for the 2008 NHRA Pro Stock debut of Victor Cagnazzi Racing's Charter Communications Chevy Cobalt, driven by Dave Connolly. Connolly qualified sixth on Saturday for Sunday's Summit Racing Communications.
Connolly's best lap was 6.662 seconds at 207.05 mph and he added times of 6.751 (on his first pass), 6.692 and 6.726 seconds. He meets Kurt Johnson (No. 11, 6.684 at 206.98 mph) in the opening round.
"The best news is we are in the program," Connolly said. "We haven't made the best of runs, but we are happy to be here and racing again. We haven't made many runs in this car. We need more testing time but (crew chief) Tommy Utt was making adjustments here. It should be interesting on Sunday."
Connolly sat out the first five races and was able to resume his racing career when Charter Communications, Inc. and Cagnazzi Racing announced a partnership agreement Friday and the Charter Communications Chevrolet was unveiled.
