Anderson turned back in opening round of eliminations
COMMERCE, Ga. (May 7, 2006) -- After a rain delay of just over four hours, eliminations for the 26th annual NHRA Summit Racing Equipment Southern Nationals presented by Pontiac got underway this afternoon at Atlanta Dragway.
Greg Stanfield continued to be a nemesis for Greg Anderson, driver of the Summit Racing Equipment Pro Stock Pontiac GTO. Running an elapsed time of 6.749 seconds in the first round of eliminations, Anderson slowed from his qualifying time Stanfield turned on the win light in 6.714 seconds. In 2006, Anderson has one win in four match ups against Stanfield.
"In previous meetings this year, I've said the (Greg) Stanfield was a great driver and today was no exception," said Anderson. "You can't give an inch in this class. Even a small error will do you in. We had a weather swing and we missed the set up slightly and that cost us this time. We made an error and we got beat."
Anderson and his KB Racing LLC team head to Columbus for the NHRA Pontiac Performance Nationals presented by Summit which will be contested May 18-21 at National Trail Raceway, in Kirkersville, near Columbus, Ohio.
