KJ Opens Atlanta Qualifying in Eighth, Looks to Improve on Saturday
Kurt Johnson was the model of consistency during the first day of qualifying at the Summit Racing Equipment Nationals in Atlanta, GA. After opening with 6.844-second pass on Friday afternoon, Johnson came back on his second attempt to post a 6.841-second elapsed time with a top speed of 201.91 mph. This placed the ACDelco Cavalier in the eighth position heading into Saturday's final two sessions, with K.J. looking to move further up Sunday's final eliminations ladder.
"We just need to make the ACDelco Cavalier a little happier. We've been good in the early part of the runs, but we're not as strong in the back half as we would like. We'll go over the data from our two runs today to see what adjustments we can make to move up closer to the top. We've won races from as far back as fifteenth, but this is our home track, and we want to put on the best show we can for our fans and friends in the stands."
