McClenathan Not Happy with Quarterfinal Finish at Fall Nationals
Cory McClenathan was unhappy with his performance Sunday in the O'Reilly Fall Nationals when he left the Texas Motorplex. The driver of the FRAM Top Fuel dragster was glum because he let a round win get away.
"I got left on," he said matter-of-factly, "and we lost. The guys on the crew gave us a good race car and I let them down."
McClenathan wasn't pleased with his first-round reaction time, either. "I just wasn't good Sunday and I don't know why.
He did get past Melanie Troxel in a tire-smoking opening-round race, winning with a 5.147-second, 256.94-mph performance to Troxel's 5.819 at 224.25. Whit Bazemore left the starting line first in the quarterfinals and lit the win light with a 4.592 at 327.74 to the FRAM dragster's 4.571 at 328.06.
"The car ran well . . . but I just didn't drive well. But we'll get that worked out before we go to Richmond."
