GOODYEAR WINS FIVE TIMES IN NHRA RACE AT TEXAS MOTORPLEX

ENNIS, Tex. (Sept. 29, 2009) -- John Lombardo Jr.'s Top Alcohol Funny Car victory highlighted Goodyear's five victories in the NHRA O'Reilly Super Start Nationals at the Texas Motorplex.

Lombardo's win, and that of Bruno Massel, came in the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series for sportsmen categories. Goodyear's other wins, in Top Fuel, Funny Car and Pro Stock, came in the Full Throttle Drag Racing Series for professionals.

Lombardo beat Alexis De Joria in all-Goodyear final round.

Massel's victory came in Competition Eliminator. It was the second national event win of Massel's career.

Tony Schumacher edged Larry Dixon in the Top Fuel final, giving Schumacher a 27-point lead over Dixon in the NHRA's Countdown to One playoffs format. Schumacher's win was the 61st of his career and fifth this season.

Robert Hight, who narrowly made it into the field for the Funny Car Countdown, now leads it after beating Jack Beckman in the final round at Texas. Hight leads Ashley Force Hood by 13 points and Beckman is third, 45 points back.

Greg Anderson collected his 59th career Pro Stock win and his second this year when he beat Johnny Gray in the final round. Mike Edwards leads the Pro Stock Countdown, Jeg Coughlin is second and Anderson is now third.
