Bradford Spins the Tire in Round 2
60 foot times are Tom Bradford and the Balbayis Asset Consulting/Hal's Speedshop Buell's strong point. "We were either the best 60 footers or at least in the top three all weekend," said Bradford, who laid down 1.08-1.09's at the NHRA Mopar Mile-High Nationals in Denver. But the number 2 Pro Stock Motorcycle qualifier's bike unexpectedly spun off the line to a 1.16 in the second round, and Bradford was unable to make up the ground lost to eventual runner-up Matt Guidera.
"We have no idea why the bike spun like that at this point," said Tom. "We pulled clutch out that round to keep that from happening, so there's just no accounting for that in our tune-up. But that's what ultimately cost us the round.
"But we had a good weekend and advanced a round and felt like we had a great qualifying effort. Qualifying really helped us out as far as the Ringers Glove deal, moving us up to the top eight, I think. We were looking to roll that into some good competition passes, and it looked like we were going to after the first round.
"We made a statement that the number1 qualifying effort at St. Louis wasn't a fluke. A lot was gained and a lot was learned and I'm really looking forward to California."
