Dixon posts another 4.60 second test run in Phoenix

PHOENIX (Jan. 15) - Thie third day of testing at the NHRA National Time Trials started out as just another day at the office for Larry Dixon and the Miller Lite Dragster as they began Monday with another low 4.60 second run at Firebird International Raceway.

The top performing Top Fuel car of the 2001 test sessions over the first two days, Don Prudhomme's Miller Lite Dragster opened test sessions Monday with its fifth consecutive 4.60-second run with a lap of 4.63 seconds at 270 mph. The streak of "60s" would end in the afternoon however as a rocker arm located in the valve train of the 6,500 horsepower engine broke, forcing Dixon to shut off early.

"We were able to put together another good test run this morning before we broke a rocker arm on our second pass," said Dixon.

Crew Chief Dick LaHaie has called for the Miller Lite Team to test again Tuesday, and possibly again on Wednesday to ensure that all parts and components have been tested thouroughly before heading to the NHRA season opener in Pomona (Feb. 1-4)
